NHL: Phoenix 5, Anaheim 4

ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Boyd Gordon ignited a streak of three Phoenix goals within 3 minutes Sunday that carried the Coyotes past Anaheim 5-4.

Gordon notched his first goal of the year 4:47 into the second period, tapping home a Taylor Pyatt pass from behind the net to break a 2-2 tie.

Lauri Korpikoski and Keith Yandle quickly followed with goals of their own, giving the Coyotes an insurmountable 5-2 advantage.

Martin Hanzal scored twice in the first period and Mike Smith stopped 29 of-33 shots for Phoenix, which was coming off consecutive defeats.

Ryan Getzlaff tallied his second goal of the game with 1:08 remaining in the contest, pulling the Ducks to within one, but they could get no closer and fell to 4-3 on the season.

Jonas Hiller started for Anaheim and was pulled in the second period after yielding five goals on 19 shots. Dan Ellis came in and stopped all 16 shots he saw the rest of the way.
