Tipsarevic reaches quarterfinals in Moscow

MOSCOW, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Janko Tipsarevic lost just one game over the last two sets of a three-set, second-round win Thursday at the Kremlin Cup tennis tournament in Moscow.

Tipsarevic, seeded No. 1 in Moscow, lost a first-set tiebreaker but then pulled everything together for a 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-0 win over Igor Kunitsyn.

Tipsarevic won about two-thirds of the points in the final two sets, piling up five service breaks and losing 11 points on serve in those sets.

Tipsarevic will face sixth-seeded Dmitry Tursunov in Friday's quarterfinals. Tursunov was a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) winner over Julien Benneteau in his second-round match.

Jeremy Chardy and Philipp Kohlschreiber pulled off upsets in the other two matches Thursday. Chardy defeated No. 3-seeded Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) and Kohlschreiber eliminated seventh-seeded Gilles Muller 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.

Chardy and Kohlschreiber will also square off in Friday's quarterfinals.

The other quarterfinals, which were determined Wednesday, have fourth-seeded Nikolay Davydenko meeting Michael Berrer and second-seeded Viktor Troicki going against No. 5-seeded Alex Bogomolov Jr.
