NHL: Florida 7, Tampa Bay 4

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Kris Versteeg and Stephen Weiss each scored twice and netted a pair of assists Monday, propelling the Florida Panthers to a 7-4 win over Tampa Bay.

Brian Campbell chipped in with four helpers while Sean Bergenheim, Jason Garrison and Tomas Kopecky scored for the Panthers, who spoiled the Lightning's home opener.

Jose Theodore stopped 35-of-39 shots as Florida downed Tampa Bay for the second time in three days.

Steven Stamkos scored midway through the third period, pulling the Bolts to within 4-3, but Weiss and Garrison lit the lamp less 2 minutes apart late in the contest to seal the win.

Victor Hedman, Vincent Lecavalier and Teddy Purcell scored for Tampa Bay, which lost its fifth straight.

Dwayne Roloson made 26 saves for the Lightning.
