Tiger Woods target of hot dog toss

SAN MARTIN, Calif., Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A golf fan was arrested Sunday after allegedly throwing a hot dog in the direction of U.S. golfer Tiger Woods at the Frys.com Open in California.

Woods said a male spectator came running onto the seventh green of Sunday's final round, causing the 14-time major champion to be distracted on his putt, which he missed.

"Some guy just came running on the green, and he had a hot dog, and evidently -- I don't know how he tried to throw it, but I was kind of focusing on my putt when he started yelling," Woods said

"Next thing I know he laid on the ground, and looked like he wanted to be arrested really because he laid on the ground, put his hands behind his back and turned his head."

The unidentified man was arrested, which Woods said he didn't consider to be a major incident.

"I guess he wanted to be in the news. And I'm sure he will be," he told reporters.
