Yang leads LPGA event in South Korea

INCHEON, South Korea, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Yang Soo-jin used a 7-under-par 65 Saturday to move into the lead heading into the final round of the LPGA HanaBank Championship in South Korea.

Yang opened with four birdies over her first six holes and didn't have a bogey in posting a 36-hole total of 10-under 134. Her 65 tied the course record at the Sky 72 Golf Club.

First-round winner Yani Tseng and two-time HanaBank defending champion Choi Na-yeon are tied for second at 9-under.

Tseng had a string of four birdies but also committed four bogeys in shooting 2-under 70 Saturday. Choi, who hasn't had a bogey this week, shot a second-round 4-under 68.

Chella Choi (71 Saturday) and Jimin Kang (69) are tied for fourth at 7-under 137.

Yang had back-to-back birdies at Nos. 2-3 and again at 5-6 in jumping into contention. She added second-nine birdies at 11, 15 before closing the day with a birdie at 18.

"I had a really good feel for my shots starting yesterday," Yang said. "I missed a lot of shots and opportunities out there yesterday but was able to capitalize on those today."
