OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Wes Welker hauled down nine passes for 158 yards and a score Sunday, helping the New England Patriots defeat Oakland 31-19.
The Patriots (3-1) rebounded from a surprise loss to Buffalo last week with a solid effort against the Raiders despite a subdued performance from Tom Brady.

The signal-caller was held to just 16-of-30 passing efficiency, good for 226 yards and two touchdowns, but Stevan Ridley picked up the slack with 97 rushing yards and a score on 10 carries.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis contributed 75 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries for the Pats.
The Raiders (2-2) got 344 yards on 25-of-39 passing from Jason Campbell, but he was picked off twice.
