Tsonga downs Ljubicic for Metz title

METZ, France, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France bested Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic in three sets Sunday to take home the championship trophy of the Moselle Open.

Tsonga prevailed over Ljubicic 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, winning 86 percent of first-serve points and 68 percent of his service points overall.

The 10th-ranked Frenchman also forced Ljubicic into 13 break points, converting six of them en route to his first title of the year.

Tsonga improved to 6-3 all-time in finals in taking his first crown since October 2009 in Tokyo,

Ljubicic was seeking his first title since April 2010 at Indian Wells.
