MLB: Philadelphia 9, New York Mets 4

NEW YORK, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Hunter Pence smacked a two-run homer and a triple Sunday, helping the Philadelphia Phillies snap an eight-game skid with a 9-4 win over the New York Mets.

Pence finished with three hits, as did Jimmy Rollins, while Carlos Ruiz went 4-for-4 with two RBI for the National League East champions.

The Phillies banged out 19 hits to back NL Cy Young candidate Roy Halladay (19-6), who hurled six scoreless innings and yielded only four hits in the win.

New York's Mike Pelfrey (7-13), meanwhile, was rocked for nine runs on five hits in a three-inning start.

Ronny Paulino belted a solo homer and Jason Pridie had three hits for the Mets.
