There had been no scoring since the fifth when Brandon Inge walked to open the 11th and gave way to Worth as a pinch runner.

After Delmon Young fouled out, Miguel Cabrera singled Worth to second. Zach Phillips then relieved Willie Eyre and he promptly gave up the game-winning single to Martinez.

Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the first to give Detroit a 2-1 lead, but the Orioles jumped in front 3-2 in the third on a sacrifice fly by Nick Markakis and an RBI single from Matt Wieters.

Detroit tied it in the fifth when Ramon Santiago singled in Jhonny Peralta.

Ryan Perry (1-0) got the victory by working the top of the 11th. It was his fourth major league win in 147 relief appearances scattered over three seasons.

Eyre (2-2) was charged with the loss after putting the winning run on base.
