Dolgopolov takes second-rounder in France

METZ, France, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Alexandr Dolgopolov rallied for a three-set win Wednesday in a second-round match at the Moselle Open tennis tournament in France.

Dolgopolov, seeded third, defeated Marcos Baghdatis 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 6-3 in a match that took nearly 2 1/2 hours. Dolgopolov, who had 10 aces but six double faults, lost his serve just once in 17 games.

Also in the second round, fourth-seeded Ivan Ljubicic posted late breaks in each set in a 7-5, 7-5 win over Nicolas Renavand. The breaks came on the only two break-point chances either player had in the match.

No. 8-seeded Benoit Paire advanced to the quarterfinals with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win over Gilles Muller.

The first round was completed with three matches Wednesday, including Arnaud Clement's 6-3, 6-4 upset of fifth-seeded Michael Llodra. Seventh-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber had a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) decision over Jonathan Dasnieres De Veigy and Igor Kunitsyn ousted Kenny de Schepper 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 in the other first-round matches.
