BUCHAREST, Romania, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- No. 1-seeded Juan Ignacio Chela rolled easily into the quarterfinals of the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy tennis tournament with a straight-set win Wednesday.

Chela, the tournament defending champion, ran over Florent Serra 6-1, 6-0 in just more than an hour. Chela won nearly two-thirds of the points in the match, including 71 percent on serve.

Serra managed to win just 21 points (39 percent) on serve and Chela converted six of his 11 break-point chances.

Chela will go against seventh-seeded Andreas Seppi in the quarterfinals. Seppi was a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 winner Wednesday over Igor Andreev. Seppi fought off nine of the 10 break-point situations he faced while cashing in four of his six break opportunities.

The only other match on Wednesday's schedule saw Pere Riba collect a first-round win. Riba built a 6-1, 3-2 lead before sixth-seeded Potito Starace retired. It was unclear why Starace stopped play against Riba. Later in the day he and Daniele Bracciali teamed for a straight-set win in doubles.
