Rose hangs on for BMW Championship win

LEMONT, Ill., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Justin Rose struggled to an even-par 71 Sunday but still managed to hang on for a two-stroke victory at the BMW Championship.

Rose headed to the 17th hole with just a one-shot lead but then chipped in for birdie to seal the triumph -- his third career PGA Tour title -- finishing at 13-under-par 271.

It was only the second time in eight chances the Briton has gone on to a victory after holding at least at share of the 54-hole lead.

John Senden grabbed sole possession of second place at minus-11 with a 2-under 69 at Cog Hill in suburban Chicago.

Geoff Ogilvy also carded a final-round 69 to claim third place at 10-under 274, clinching both the final spot on the International team at the Presidents Cup as well as a berth in next week's Tour Championship.
