MLS: Philadelphia 1, Columbus 0

CHESTER, Pa., Sept. 17 (UPI) -- A first-half goal by Sebastien Le Toux Saturday lifted Philadelphia to its first win in exactly two months, a 1-0 decision over conference-leading Columbus.

Le Toux fired a shot from the middle of the box into the bottom, right corner of the net and Zac MacMath needed to make only one save to record the shutout.

Philadelphia had not won since downing New England July 17, having gone 0-3-5 since then. The eight-game winless streak is a club record.

The Union improved to 9-7-12 and climbed within two points of Columbus for the lead in the Eastern Conference.

Columbus (11-10-8) has lost three of its last four games and tied the other one.
