The Royals overcame a 1-0 deficit with a three-run fourth, featuring a two-run triple from Alcides Escobar. Mike Moustakas contributed a two-run homer in the fifth.

Everett Teaford made his second major league start for the Royals and he has won both of them. He held the White Sox to a run on four hits in six innings.

Despite the one-sided nature of the contest, Nate Adcock was credited with his first major league save after he worked the final three innings. Adcock, like Teaford, was called up late in the season.

Zach Stewart (2-5) was roughed up for five runs on 11 hits in five innings to take the loss.
