PARIS, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- The British-Irish team at the Seve Trophy in Paris extended their lead over Continental Europe Saturday.
The Great Britain-and-Ireland squad won three of four matches in the morning session and then split the afternoon session to extend their lead to 11 1/2 points to 6 1/2.
"Things went really well for us," said GB&I captain Paul McGinley. "Our concentration levels were really good, and we were really up for it."
The Brits held a narrow lead heading into Saturday but won three of four matches in the morning greensomes play and then two of four afternoon matches. The victories accounted for six of the eight points up for grabs Saturday.
Lee Westwood and David Horsey led the charge for GB&I with a 4-and-3 win over Raphael Jacquelin and Nicolas Colsaerts.
Sunday's card pits all 10 players in singles play.
