MLB: Philadelphia 2, Florida 1 (2nd game)

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Ryan Howard doubled home Michael Martinez in the 10th inning Thursday to give the Philadelphia Phillies a 2-1 win over Florida and a doubleheader sweep.

The Phillies have won three in a row and could clinch their fifth consecutive division title as early as Friday. Any combination of two Philadelphia wins or Atlanta losses during the rest of the season will give the Phillies the National League East title.

Philadelphia won the first game Thursday 3-1. The Phillies clinched a playoff spot Wednesday.

Cliff Lee threw eight shutout innings for the Phillies and took a 1-0 lead into the ninth, but with Florida down to its last strike Jose Lopez hit his eighth homer of the year to tie it.

Lee struck out 12, but came up short in a bid for his 17th win of the season.

Michael Schwimer (1-0) relieved Lee in the 10th inning and retired the side in order. When Philadelphia scored in the bottom of the inning, Schwimer recorded his first major league win in his sixth relief appearance.

Martinez drew a four-pitch walk to open the 10th against Burke Badenhop (2-2) and Howard won it when he drove a 3-1 pitch into center for his double. Howard did not start the game, but came in to play first base in the 10th.

Philadelphia will open a series at home Friday against St. Louis and Atlanta will host the New York Mets.
