MLB: Texas 10, Cleveland 4

ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- David Murphy went 4-for-4 and clubbed a pair of homers, and the Texas Rangers pounded out 14 hits Tuesday in their 10-4 rout of Cleveland.

Murphy launched solo shots in the second and fourth innings and scored four times. Josh Hamilton put his team ahead for good with a two-run shot in the fifth, giving Texas the opener of a three-game series.

Mike Napoli and Mitch Moreland also went deep for the American League West-leading Rangers, who came into the contest with a three-game advantage over the Los Angeles Angels.

Matt Harrison (12-9) held the Indians to three runs on seven hits over five frames.

Cleveland's Justin Masterson (11-10) was roughed up for six runs on eight hits in a five-inning effort.

Carlos Santana went 3-for-4 with a solo homer, two RBI and three runs scored for the Indians.
