CINCINNATI, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Home runs from Ryan Howard and Michael Martinez helped Philadelphia down Cincinnati 6-4 Thursday, completing a four-game sweep.
It was another victory for starting pitcher Vance Worley (10-1). The Phillies have won the last 13 games he's started, the longest stretch this season for the team.
Worley, a rookie right-hander, hasn't lost since May 29.
It also was the first time the Phillies had swept a four-game series in Cincinnati since 1916.
Worley gave up four runs to the Reds in six-plus innings, allowing a three-run homer to Chris Heisey before he was pulled. But before Heisey's homer the Phillies had built a 6-1 lead.
Starting for the Reds, Mike Leake (11-9) also gave up four runs in six innings, taking the loss.
