MLB: Kansas City 11, Detroit 8

DETROIT, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Kansas City downed Detroit 11-8 Thursday, with Jeff Francoeur hitting a two-run homer and doubling in a run in the seventh inning.

Francoeur's heroics helped the Royals to a come-from-behind victory. The Royals trailed by two going into the seventh, but scored four runs in the inning to take the lead for good.

Also for Kansas City, Eric Hosmer homered and Johnny Giavotella went 3-for-5 with two RBI, with the Royal's splitting the set.

Tigers reliever Phil Coke (2-9) earned all of those runs and took the loss.

For AL Central-leading Detroit, Magglio Ordonez and Austin Jackson hit two-run homers.
