MLB: Houston 7, Pittsburgh 4

HOUSTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Wandy Rodriguez fanned 13 batters and Carlos Lee backed him with a three-run homer Monday in the Houston Astros' 7-4 win over Pittsburgh.

Rodriguez (10-9) earned the victory after holding the Pirates to three runs on four hits, overcoming four walks to go along with a career high in strikeouts.

The Astros got three hits and an RBI from Jose Altuve in the opener of a three-game series.

The Pirates' Jason Grilli (1-1) was tagged with the loss after Jose Veras surrendered Lee's tie-breaking shot in the seventh.

Andrew McCutchen cracked a two-run homer for the Bucs.
