MLB: Philadelphia 3, Cincinnati 2

CINCINNATI, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Shane Victorino belted a tie-breaking, two-run homer in the eighth inning Monday, boosting the Philadelphia Phillies to a 3-2 win over Cincinnati.

Victorino's homer handed a victory to Antonio Bastardo (6-0), who worked around a leadoff walk in the seventh by striking out the side.

Wilson Valdez chipped in with an RBI double as the Phillies returned to action for the first time since Friday, after being idled by Hurricane Irene.

Philadelphia Starter Cole Hamels held the Reds to one run on two hits with no walks and seven strikeouts over six innings. The left-hander was making his first start since Aug. 12 due to left shoulder inflammation.

Cincinnati's Homer Bailey (7-6) surrendered three runs on six hits over eight frames, striking out nine with no walks.
