NAPA, Calif., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who left Ohio State in June following a rules scandal, has signed a contract with the Oakland Raiders, the NFL team said.

The Raiders late Thursday issued a release stating Pryor signed an agreement and was expected on the practice field Friday. Oakland's next pre-season game is at home Sunday against New Orleans.

Terms of the deal weren't announced but ESPN said it was for four years.

The Raiders selected Pryor in the third round of Monday's NFL supplemental draft, which had been pushed back five days while the league considered Pryor's eligibility. The NFL ruled that Pryor would have to sit out the first five games of the season, matching a sanction the quarterback would have faced at Ohio State.

Pryor was among Buckeyes players implicated last year in allegedly selling memorabilia, which is considered receiving improper benefits by the NCAA. The investigation led Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel to resign and Pryor left school shortly after the coach.

Pryor, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound 22-year-old, passed for 2,772 yards and 27 touchdowns last season as a junior. He also ran for 754 yards and four scores.
