Garrido moves ahead at Johnnie Walker

AUCHTERARDER, Scotland, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Ignacio Garrido shot a 3-under-par 69 Friday and has a one-stroke lead on five players at the European Tour's Johnnie Walker Championship in Scotland.

Garrido had bogeys on the first hole of each nine but also five birdies in moving to 8-under 136 after 36 holes after a round, much of which was played in the rain.

There's a five-way tie for second and 14 players are within three strokes of Garrido's pace.

First-round leader Mark Foster was 1-under Friday and is among those tied at 7-under halfway through the tournament. Lorenzo Gagli was bogey-free en route to a 4-under 68 while Thomas Bjorn, Kenneth Ferrie and Peter Lawrie each had second rounds of 69 in taking a share of second.

Garrido opened his day with a bogey at the first hole but came back with birdies at Nos. 2 and 3. He added another birdie at the seventh hole.

After the bogey at 10, Garrido birdied No. 11 and pulled clear of the logjam with a birdie at 17.
