MLB: Seattle 9, Cleveland 2

CLEVELAND, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Wily Mo Pena knocked in four runs Wednesday, contributing to a 16-hit Seattle attack and helping the Mariners to a 9-2 win over the Cleveland Indians.

Kyle Seager and Pena, hitting seventh and eighth, combined to go 7-for-7 -- and Pena was hit by a pitch -- with five runs batted in and five runs scored.

Pena had a two-run home run in the fourth inning and a two-run double to cap a four-run rally in the fifth. He scored a run on a two-run triple by Brendan Ryan to finish off a three-run seventh for the Mariners.

Felix Hernandez (12-11) surrendered seven hits and two runs in a six-inning outing in getting the win while Cleveland starter John Tomlin (12-7) took the loss. Tomlin was knocked around for 11 hits and six runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Shelley Duncan singled in a run for the Indians in the third before Pena connected for a home run to center field the next inning. It was his seventh homer of the year. Jack Hannahan's RBI single in the bottom of the third tied the score 2-2.

Seattle took command in the fifth when Miguel Olivo singled in a pair of runs and, after Seager hit one of his three doubles in the game, Pena doubled in two more for a 6-2 lead.

Ichiro Suzuki got an RBI on a fielder's choice just before Ryan's triple in the seventh.
