MLB: Florida 6, Cincinnati 5 (1st game)

MIAMI, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Greg Dobbs stroked a key two-run double in the eighth inning and Florida posted a 6-5 win over Cincinnati in the first game of a doubleheader.

The Marlins broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the eighth.


Emilio Bonifacio began the uprising by smacking a one-out triple and scored on Omar Infante's base hit off Jose Arrendondo (3-4) for a 4-3 lead.

Bill Bray came in to relieve and the Marlins scored two more crucial runs when Logan Morrison singled and, one out later, Dobbs scalded a 2-0 pitch into the right field corner.

The Marlins needed those runs in the ninth when Cincinnati's Todd Frazier blasted a two-run shot off Edward Mujica, but Steve Cishek recorded the final two outs for his second save for Florida.

Morrison, in his first game back with the Marlins after a controversial demotion to the minors, smacked a solo homer and Jose Lopez also went deep for Florida.

Joey Votto cracked a two-run homer for the Reds.
