Elena Baltacha ousts Goerges at Texas Open

GRAPEVINE, Texas, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Third-seeded Julia Goerges of Germany was knocked out of the Texas Tennis Open in the second round Tuesday by Britain's Elena Baltacha.

Baltacha rallied to win 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) in the final tuneup for the U.S. Open.

Fifth-seeded Sabine Lisicki of Germany advanced with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Alberta Brianti of Italy.

Johanna Larsson of Sweden knocked off No. 6 seed Shahar Peer of Israel 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the third round of the inaugural tournament in Grapevine, Texas.
