ROSEVILLE, Mich., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- A Michigan man was arrested for trying to stop his pickup truck with his foot, police say.
The unnamed 25-year-old Roseville man was arrested Wednesday and cited for reckless driving, the Detroit Free Press reported.
The man told police he was just trying to make it home from work. He knew his brakes didn't work, so he was stopping his truck with his foot out the door, a la cartoon caveman character Fred Flintstone.
The man was driving on a suspended license.
His foot failed as a brake, however, and the man ran a stop light and hit four cars, WDIV-TV of Detroit reported.
"I just can't believe anybody would think for a second they could make it home using their feet as a brake," Roseville police Deputy Chief James Berlin said.
No one was injured during the accidents.
"It's so stupid it's comical. But it could have been very tragic," Berlin said.
The man is due in court on Sept. 15.
