ATLANTA, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Michael Bourn, Brian McCann and Chipper Jones produced all of Atlanta's runs on homers Friday, boosting the Braves past Arizona 4-2.
The Braves, who increased their lead in the National League wild-card race to seven games over the San Francisco Giants, built a 4-0 lead through six innings and held on thanks in part to the 38th save from rookie Craig Kimbrel.
Kimbrel holds the National League rookie save record and is within two of equaling the major league record set last year by Neftali Feliz of the Texas Rangers.
Bourn hit a solo homer in the first, McCann contributed a two-run blast in the third and Jones added a home run in the sixth. All of the homers came off Daniel Hudson (12-9), who allowed seven hits in six innings.
Derek Lowe (8-11) worked five-plus innings to get the victory, his second in six starts. He gave up four hits and struck out seven.
Both Arizona runs were charged to Arodys Vizcaino. Eric O'Flaherty, Jonny Venters and Kimbrel finished off the victory.
Atlanta has an 18-1 record since June 1 when O'Flaherty, Venters and Kimbrel have pitched in the same game. Kimbrel has not given up a run in his last 29 2/3 innings and worked out of trouble in the ninth after putting two on with one out.
