SEATTLE, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Mike Carp and Casper Wells hit back-to-back solo homers in the eighth inning Monday, rallying the Seattle Mariners to a 6-5 decision over Toronto.
Carp's blast -- his second of the game -- came with one out off Trever Miller and tied the score 5-5. After Jon Rauch (5-4) came in to pitch, Wells put the Mariners ahead with his third round-tripper in three games.

Tom Wilhelmsen (1-0) earned his first major league win, holding the Blue Jays scoreless in the eighth. Brandon League nailed down his 30th save as the Mariners won the opener of a three-game set.
Trayvon Robinson went 3-for-4 with an RBI double for Seattle.
Eric Thames and Adam Lind each launched a two-run homer and Brett Lawrie added a solo shot for Toronto.
