MLS: Colorado 2, San Jose 1

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Jeff Larentowicz tallied the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute Saturday and the Colorado Rapids hung on for a 2-1 victory over San Jose.

San Jose was playing well while a man short but broke down in the 72nd when Larentowicz booted a free kick that got through the legs of San Jose's Simon Dawkins, who was stationed on the end of the defensive wall.

The miscue stranded Earthquakes goalie Jon Busch and the ball found the back of the net inside the left post.

Caleb Folan also scored on a penalty kick in the 39th minute for Colorado (10-6-10).

Joey Gjertsen tallied midway through the first half for San Jose (5-9-10), whose winless streak stretched to 11 games.
