It wasn't easy for the Serbian star, who improved to 53-1 this season and remained undefeated on hard courts this season (29-0). He labored for nearly 2 1/2 hours before finally besting Fish.

The victory made Djokovic the first player in history to win five ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles in the same season

Fish battled hard but fell short in his quest for his second win of the season after successfully defending his title in Atlanta last month.
