MLS: Chivas USA 0, Seattle 0 (tie)

SEATTLE, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Chivas USA defender Michael Umana made a crucial save on a Freddy Montero shot in the second half Saturday, preserving the Goats' 0-0 draw with Seattle.

Montero appeared certain to score after corralling a bouncing ball in the box in the 70th minute, but Umana managed to block the shot with a sliding challenge to keep the contest deadlocked.

Seattle also had a great chance to take the lead after being awarded a penalty shot in the 19th minute. But Alvaro Fernandez hit the post and the rebound bounced off Chivas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy before trickling out of play.

The Sounders (11-5-9) moved to 42 points on the season, tying them for second place in the Western Conference with FC Dallas.

Chivas (7-8-9) gained a point in its second straight road game.
