MLB: Detroit 6, Baltimore 5

BALTIMORE, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Ryan Raburn's go-ahead, two-run single capped a big sixth-inning rally Saturday that carried the Detroit Tigers to a 6-5 win over Baltimore.

Trailing 5-1 entering the sixth, the Tigers erupted for five runs to stun the Orioles and take control of the game.

Miguel Cabrera started the rally by belting a two-run homer. Alex Avila then added an RBI ground-rule double to make it 5-4 and Raburn's hit chased home Jhonny Peralta and Avila with the key runs.

Max Scherzer (12-7) earned the win despite giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits. He struck out a season-high 10 batters for the American League Central-leading Tigers, who clinched their three-game series against Baltimore.

Jose Valverde recorded his 35th save with a scoreless ninth.

Baltimore's Jeremy Guthrie (5-16) was saddled with the loss, yielding six runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Vladimir Guerrero socked a two-run homer and Blake Davis added a three-run shot for the O's.
