NFL: Tampa Bay 25, Kansas City 0

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Josh Johnson threw for 108 yards and a touchdown Friday as part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 25-0 blanking of Kansas City in their exhibition opener.

Johnson, Tampa Bay's backup quarterback, ran for 57 yards on five carries. His touchdown throw was a 3-yarder to Michael Spurlock midway through the third period that opened a 22-0 lead.

Connor Barth kicked field goals of 25 and 40 yards for the Buccaneers, who won 10 games last season without making the playoffs.

Kansas City managed only 137 yards of total offense and was nailed for a safety as well.
