BOSTON, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Veteran free agent defensive lineman Shaun Ellis is set to join the New England Patriots, The Boston Globe reported Sunday.
Ellis has spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the New York Jets, racking up 72 1/2 sacks, including 4 1/2 last season when he also made 36 tackles in 15 games.
The Globe said the signing is awaiting a physical to become official.
Ellis, a Tennessee product, is the Jets' all-time leader in games played by a defensive lineman and was a Pro Bowl pick in 2003 and 2009.
He sacked Tom Brady twice in last year's divisional playoff matchup between the teams, which New York won 28-21.
The Patriots have also added Albert Haynesworth and Mark Anderson to their defensive line since the end of the NFL lockout.
