DETROIT, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Alexi Ogando allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings Thursday in helping the Texas Rangers to a 5-2 win over the Detroit Tigers.

Ogando (11-5) allowed eight hits but didn't walk a batter and struck out seven. He had a 5-0 lead when Detroit strung together four hits in a five-batter span to score two runs and chase Ogando from the game with one out in the seventh.

The Texas bullpen allowed just one hit the rest of the way with Neftali Feliz earning his 22nd save with a 1-2-3 ninth in which he struck out two.

Brad Penney (7-9) took the loss after giving up all of Texas's five runs and 11 hits. He also walked three in 6 2/3 innings.

The Rangers scored their first run on a second-inning double play and error on catcher Victor Martinez when Nelson Cruz was able to score from second on the play. Texas added three runs in the fourth when the Rangers had five hits, including RBI singles by Mike Napoli and Ian Kinsler and a sacrifice fly from Endy Chavez.

Michael Young tripled in John Hamilton in the seventh to make the score 5-0.

Wilson Betemit and Ryan Raburn had back-to-back RBI singles for Detroit in the bottom of the inning.
