ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Robinson Chirinos drove in runs in the 11th and 12th innings Thursday, with the second RBI giving the Tampa Bay Rays a 7-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
After Jose Bautista tied the score 3-3 with his major-league-leading 33rd home run of the season, Toronto took leads in both the 10th and 11th innings but was unable to hold them.
Desmond Jennings hit a home run for the Rays in the 10th to keep the game going. Toronto's Jose Molina tripled in a pair of run in the top of the 11th only to have Tampa Bay score on a groundout and after a run scored Chirinos' single up the middle.
Brandon Gomes (1-1), the seventh Tampa Bay pitcher, held Toronto scoreless in the 12th in picking up the win.
B.J. Upton tripled to right with one out in the Rays' 12th. Toronto intentionally walked two batters and then Shawn Camp (1-2) struck out Elliot Johnson. But Chirinos pulled the ball through the left side of the infield for the game-winning hit.
Toronto scored twice in the first inning on an Adam Lind single and Tampa Bay managed just five hits through nine innings. Three of those, however, came in the fifth inning and included a three-run home run by Evan Longoria.
