MLB: Seattle 4, Oakland 2

SEATTLE, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Newly acquired Casper Wells hit a two-run homer for the Seattle Mariners Tuesday in their 4-2 win over Oakland.

Wells, who came to the Mariners in a weekend trade with the Detroit Tigers, gave Seattle a 4-0 lead in the sixth inning that held up for the Mariners' second consecutive win.

Felix Hernandez (10-9) got the win with two runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Rich Harden (2-2) gave up four runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings and Scott Sizemore drove in both Oakland runs with a home run in the seventh inning.

The A's loaded the bases in the eighth inning with one out but Jeff Gray struck out the next two batters to preserve the lead. Brandon League pitched the ninth for his 25th save.
