WASHINGTON, July 31 (UPI) -- Tobias Kamke posted a straight-set victory over Denis Kudla Sunday in the first round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington.

The German downed his American opponent 6-4, 6-2, and now goes on to face 11th-seeded American John Isner at Fitzgerald Tennis Center.

The reigning champion at Legg Mason is former Wimbledon runner-up David Nalbandian of Argentina, who upset former Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis in last year's D.C. finale.

Nalbandian, hampered by injuries this season, has struggled to regain his top form since surgery on his left leg in March.
