LOS ANGELES, July 31 (UPI) -- Ernests Gulbis rebounded from a set down Sunday to upset top-seeded Mardy Fish and claim the Farmers Classic title in Los Angeles.
Gulbis knocked off the American favorite 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 in a marathon, 2-hour, 43-minute match to win his second career ATP title.
The Latvian wasn't sharp in the first set but then rallied to win the next two and collect his first championship since the February 2010 event in Delray Beach.
Gulbis improved to 7-28 against opponents ranked in the Top 10.
Fish, 29, was appearing in his second consecutive final after downing fellow American John Isner in Atlanta.
He had gained the Farmers Classic finals by edging Ryan Harrison 6-0, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), while Gulbis defeated Alex Bogomolov Jr. 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in Saturday's semifinals.
