SEATTLE, July 30 (UPI) -- Michael Pineda struck out 10 Rays over 6 1/3 innings Saturday, boosting the Seattle Mariners to a 3-2 win over Tampa Bay.
Pineda (9-7) yielded one earned run on only one hit, working around four walks for the Mariners, who won for only the second time in 20 games.
The all-star rookie right-hander broke a personal three-start winless streak.
Jeff Gray hurled 1 2/3 scoreless frames of relief and Brandon League notched his 24th save for the M's.
Mike Carp's RBI single in the sixth snapped a 2-2 tie and Dustin Ackley socked a two-run homer for Seattle.
The Rays' Alex Cobb (3-1) was saddled with his first major league loss in eight career starts. The rookie allowed three runs on six hits before exiting after 6 1/3 innings.
Ben Zobrist knocked in both Tampa Bay runs.
