Fish moves on at Farmers Classic

LOS ANGELES, July 30 (UPI) -- Mardy Fish won his seventh consecutive match Friday and kept alive his chance for a second straight title with a quarterfinal victory at the Farmers Classic.

Fish, who won last week in Atlanta for his first championship of the season and who is the No. 1 seed in this event, defeated Igor Kunitsyn 6-2, 6-4.

He will take on Ryan Harrison in the semifinals after Harrison downed Yen-Hsun Lu 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

In the other half of the draw, Thomaz Bellucci won over Alex Bogomolov 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 and Ernests Gulbis surprised No. 2 seed Juan Martin del Potro 6-2, 6-4.

Fish is the leading American in the world rankings, having climbed to No. 9.
