Meena Lee leads Women's British Open

CARNOUSTIE, Scotland, July 28 (UPI) -- Meena Lee fired a bogey-free, 7-under-par 65 Thursday and owns the lead after the first round of the LPGA's Women's British Open.

Lee had a very steady round in building a 2-stroke advantage over Brittany Lincicome, whose 5-under 67 included an eagle, five birdies and two bogeys.

Sophie Gustafson, Caroline Mason and Amy Yang are tied for third at 4-under.

Defending champion and No. 1-ranked Yani Tseng, who won this year's LPGA Championship, is tied for 31st at 1-under.

Stacy Lewis, who won the Kraft Nabisco Championship, is 2-over after her first round Thursday. U.S. Women's Open champion Ryu So-yeon isn't in the Women's British Open field.

Lee opened Thursday's play with a birdie and then had four pars. She finished the front side with three birdies in four holes. Lee was 3-under on the second nine with birdies at Nos. 11, 14 and 17.

She had birdies on all three of the par 5's on the Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland.
