Beckham to launch underwear line

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, July 28 (UPI) -- A Swedish clothing company has partnered with English soccer star David Beckham in a line of men's underwear.

H&M plans to begin distributing Beckham's Bodywear on Valentine's Day in 2012, The Local reported. New items are to be brought out as the seasons change.

"Over the past year, I've been developing my Bodywear range with my team and I'm extremely positive about what we have designed and produced," Beckham said. "The final piece in the jigsaw was a retail partner who has the vision and capability to distribute these products globally. In H&M we have found the perfect partner to collaborate with going forward."

Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M head of design, said Beckham is "a true icon of both sport and style."

Beckham, former captain of the English national team, is currently with the Los Angeles Galaxy. His wife, Victoria, is the former Posh Spice of the Spice Girls.
