PHILADELPHIA, July 26 (UPI) -- Vance Worley tossed a complete-game three-hitter and the Philadelphia Phillies hit four home runs Tuesday in their 7-2 win over San Francisco.
Worley (7-1) improved to 5-0 in his last seven starts with his first career shutout. The rookie right-hander held the Giants to two runs, issuing only one walk and striking out five as Philadelphia won the first contest in a three-game set between division leaders.
Chase Utley hit an inside-the-park solo homer in sixth inning, Raul Ibanez launched a three-run shot in the first, John Mayberry added a bases-empty homer in the fourth and Ryan Howard went deep in the eighth.
Barry Zito (3-3) started in place of an ailing Tim Lincecum for San Francisco and was roughed up for six runs on six hits over seven innings.
Aaron Rowand belted a solo homer for the Giants.
