MIAMI, July 26 (UPI) -- The Miami Dolphins kicked off a frenzied day of signing rookie and veteran free agents Tuesday by inking University of Delaware quarterback Pat Devlin.
With the end of a four-month NFL lockout and a new collective bargaining agreement in place, the floodgates were opened for NFL teams to make up for lost time and discuss contracts with their own rookies and with free agents.
Devlin, an undrafted rookie free agent, signed a three-year contract with the Dolphins, ESPN.com reported.
The signal-caller led Delaware to the FCS championship game as a fifth-year senior last season, tossing for 5,696 yards and 38 touchdowns in two seasons with the Blue Hens.
Two of his former teammates also signed contracts Tuesday, including defensive backs Anthony Bratton (Green Bay Packers) and Anthony Walters (Chicago Bears).
Among Tuesday's other signees were Richmond defensive tackle Martin Parker (New York Giants), Elon quarterback Scott Riddle (Jacksonville Jaguars), Arkansas-Pine Bluff wide receiver Raymond Webber (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Cal Poly wide receiver Dominique Johnson (Minnesota Vikings).
