KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 19 (UPI) -- Mark Treanor's two-run single in the sixth inning put Kansas City ahead Tuesday and the Royals went on to a 4-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.

After Eric Hosmer was intentionally walked to get to Treanor, the Royals catcher made the Sox pay. He looped a 3-0 pitch from Jake Peavy (4-4) into right field, driving in the tying and go-ahead runs.

Melky Cabrera hit a solo homer for Kansas City, which evened its three-game set with Chicago.

Kansas City starter Danny Duffy (2-4) tossed seven innings, holding Chicago to two runs on five hits, issuing a pair of walks and fanning six.

Greg Holland tossed a scoreless eighth and Joakim Soria closed out the Royals' win with his 17th save.

Alex Rios had two hits, including an RBI single, for the White Sox.
