Matteson shares lead on PGA Tour

MADISON, Miss., July 15 (UPI) -- Troy Matteson shot a 6-under 66 on a rainy Friday at the Viking Classic and had a share of the lead when play was suspended in the second round.

Matteson completed 36 holes in 12-under 132 at the Annandale Golf Club, but more than half the field had yet to complete the second round when the action was halted.

On-and-off rains forced about 6 hours worth of delays during the day, including 2 hours at the start.

George McNeill was also at 12-under for the tournament at the end of the day, but he had one hole remaining in his second round.

Tom Pernice Jr. and Kevin Kisner shared third place at 11-under. Pernice had completed 36 holes while Kisner had four holes to go.

Those who originally had afternoon tee times Friday had either played only a few holes or had not even started their round when darkness fell. First-round co-leader Brendon de Jonge was among those who had yet to tee off.

Kenny Perry, trying to join the small group of players who have won on the PGA Tour after turning 50, was tied for 11th at 8-under 136. Perry will turn 51 next month.
