MLB: LA Dodgers 6, New York Mets 0

LOS ANGELES, July 8 (UPI) -- Clayton Kershaw struck out nine over eight innings Thursday in helping the Los Angeles Dodgers snap a five-game skid with a 6-0 win over the New York Mets.

Kershaw (9-4) bounced back from a start in which he allowed six runs in six innings to the Los Angeles Angels. He gave up five hits to the Mets and threw 113 pitches before giving way to the bullpen in the ninth.

Kershaw had been trying for his third shutout and fourth complete game of the season.

Los Angeles took control with a five-run sixth that was ignited by a two-run double from Matt Kemp.

Juan Uribe brought home Kemp with a double, Aaron Miles doubled in Uribe and Miles scored on a triple by Dioner Navarro.

Dillon Gee (8-3) lasted 5 2/3 innings while allowing five runs on five hits to suffer the loss.
