HARRISON, N.J., July 6 (UPI) -- Two second-half goals by Juan Agudelo Wednesday finished off a 5-0 rout for New York over Toronto that put the Red Bulls into the conference lead.
New York moved a point in front of Philadelphia at the top of the Eastern Conference, although Philadelphia has played two fewer games than the Red Bulls.
Thierry Henry and Luke Rodgers scored 5 minutes apart late in the opening half with Jan Gunnar Solli assisting on both goals.
Joel Lindpere gave New York a 3-0 lead in the 52nd minute before Agudelo completed the one-sided victory with his third and fourth goals of the season.
New York had gone four games without a victory, having tied three of those contests.
Toronto fell to 3-8-9 and remained stuck in next-to-last place in the East, ahead of only New England.
